This course is aimed at qualified Personal Trainers who are aiming to work with patients with controlled common medical conditions. The course is also suitable for Instructors referred for exercise by their GP within a recognised exercise referral scheme.

COURSE AIM
This course is aimed at qualified Fitness Instructors, Studio Instructors, & Personal Trainers
to be able to plan, adapt and deliver exercise and physical activity sessions and programmes (within scope of practice) to 
meet the needs of adults with long-term health conditions
 such as:
Hypertension
Asthma
Diabetes
Arthritis
Osteoporosis
Joint replacement
Lower back pain
Mental Health (depression/stress/Anxiety)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- 
– Suitable level 3 qualification in Personal Training or equivalent.
- or suitable level 2 qualification in Fitness Instructing with the additional level 3 unit Applied Anatomy & Physiology
– The course requires some physical exertion and individual participation is essential.
– Candidates should have basic skills in English and communication
– Candidates should be 17 or over

The role of physical activity and exercise in the 
prevention and management of long-term health 
conditions 
UNIT 2

Programming, adapting and delivering exercise for 
adults with long-term health conditions

On successful completion of this course the individual will;
  • Be able to train clients with controlled low risk medical conditions
  • Obtain a recognised qualification enabling them to work in a recognised exercise referral scheme​
  • Progress on to further specialist qualifications such as the Level 4, BACPR (British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation) Specialist Exercise Instructor
