This course is aimed at individuals looking to gain entry into the fitness industry for employment as a Gym Instructor and/or progressing to become a Level 3 Personal Trainer. This intensive course would suit individuals who have previously studied anatomy & physiology and have a good gym training background with clear understanding of the main resistance and cardiovascular exercises.

COURSE DAYS
Attendance sessions - Monday - Friday 11.30am - 4:00pm Week 1 - 21st - 25th July 2025 Week 2 - 18th - 22nd August 2025 Practical Assessment - Saturday 30th August or 6th September 2025 COURSE AIM To train candidates to a professionally competent level, enabling them to design and instruct safe and effective gym inductions and one to one exercise sessions in a gym environment. UNITS Unit 1 – Anatomy & Physiology for Exercise Unit 2 – Providing a Positive Customer Experience Unit 3 – Principles of Physical Activity, Exercise & Training Unit 4 – Health Screening & Risk Stratification Unit 5 - Health Awareness & Lifestyle Management Unit 6 – Supporting Clients in a Gym Environment Unit 7 - Plan, Deliver and Evaluate Gym Based Training ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Experience of attending gym and performing Gym based exercises. The course requires some physical exertion and individual participation is essential. Candidates should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2. Candidates should be 16 years and have some experience of studying Anatomy and Physiology. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The YMCA Diploma in Gym Instructing is a vocationally related qualification (VRQ), at level 2 on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF). It provides access on to The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 2 and is a pre-requisite for the Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training. |
