COURSE DAYS
Theory sessions - Monday, 6.30pm - 8:30pm Practical sessions - 7 x Sundays 12pm - 6pm Practical Assessment - Sunday 18th July COURSE AIM To train candidates to a professionally competent level, enabling them to design and instruct safe and effective group exercise sessions both based in a studio and/or outside UNITS Unit 1 – Principles of Anatomy, Physiology and Fitness Unit 2 – Professionalism for Group Training Unit 3 – Health and Safety in a Group Training Environment Unit 4 – Supporting Behaviour change and Healthy Lifestyles Unit 5 – Planning and Instructing Group Training Sessions ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Some experience of attending group based exercise classes. The course requires some physical exertion and individual participation is essential. Candidates should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2. Candidates should be 17 years or over or be in full time education studying a related qualification at ‘A’ level or equivalent. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The Active IQ Certificate in Group Instructing is a vocationally related qualification (VRQ), at level 2 on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF). It provides access on to The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 2 and is a pre-requisite for the Award for Nutrition in Physical Activity (level 3). |
